Maya MEL Fundamentals
SGI (IRIX)or NT Platform, Length: 4 Days
Students will learn how to use MEL,the underlying language upon which Maya is built, to customize Maya environments and components to enhance productivity. Learn how to create custom windows, buttons, sliders and other “widgets”
within Maya to control specific aspects of a scene. Instructors will also review custom script creations for automating modeling and animation tasks, creating custom particle effects and other dynamic simulations as well as creating the tools that invoke these scripts.
Prerequisite: Students must have completed the Learning
Maya tutorials including reviewing the MEL Documentation.
It is strongly recommended that students have some practical
experience using Maya.
Maya Special Topics
SGI (IRIX)or NT Platform,
Length: 2, 3 or 4 Days
This class is designed for the intermediate to advanced student who wants to explore Maya functionality in more depth than is offered in Maya Transition, but more broadly than in any of the specialized classes. Students will spend one day exploring each major aspect of Maya. Lessons cover various approaches to advanced Designs and Modeling, Shading Networks and Rendering, advanced Dynamics principles, (including particle animation and expressions), and writing MEL scripts to build custom interface windows and automate tasks.
Prerequisite: Students must have completed the Learning Maya tutorials. It is strongly recommended that students have some practical experience using Maya.

Maya Composer: Jump Start
SGI (IRIX) Platform, Length: 2 Days
This course rapidly introduces the student to the basis of compositing in Fusion, then explores advanced topics and methodologies. Solving typical post production and special FX problems, streamlining the Rendering Pipeline, advanced Matte handling, and integration between live action and CG are among the topics covered.
Prerequisite: Students must have completed the Maya Composer tutorials. It is also strongly recommended that students have some practical experience using Maya.
