GLOBIX LAUNCHES GLOBIXMAIL
The new business-to-business e-mail messaging service expands the Globix suite of
application services.
Globix reports commitments for more than 1.1 million mailboxes.
NEW YORK — NY, Internet World Fall 2000 — October 25, 2000 — Globix Corporation (NASDAQ: GBIX),
today launched GlobixMail, its new e-mail messaging service for business. At launch, Globix has
commitments for about 1.1 million mailboxes.
This Globix messaging solution offers companies access to a sophisticated, high-performance
outsourced messaging infrastructure that can keep pace with the rapid evolution of technology and
growing business demands. Fully scalable, GlobixMail enables companies to manage the
technological complexities associated with messaging and stay competitive with the latest features,
while simultaneously reducing costs and easing IT burdens. This is also an ideal solution for
Internet Service Providers and portals that demand advanced features and scalability. The
application can be purchased in conjunction with other Globix services, such as Co-Location and
Web Hosting, or as a stand-alone product.
“Through economies of scale, the Globix solution, GlobixMail, can dramatically reduce companies’
costs, free up valuable IT resources and improve reliability and scalability. This Globix solution
represents the latest in advanced messaging technology,” said Marc H. Bell, chairman and CEO of
Globix. ‘This adds yet another managed-solution to the roster of application services available from
Globix.
“Globix can more quickly and effectively address the issues being raised by advances in technology,
such as secure document delivery, unified messaging, security and wireless compatibility. As new
technologies become available, Globix can implement new functionality into GlobixMail on an
enterprise basis,” said Peter L. Herzig, chief operating officer of the Globix Application Services
Group.
The GlobixMail application service uses a sophisticated X.500 directory system on the back end.
Globix expects this architecture to serve as a foundation for additional future services, such as
calendaring, e-wallet, chat, content management, digital identification/verification, bulletin board
or VOIP (Voice Over Internet Protocol).
