GLOBIX JOINS VH1 AND MICROSOFT TO PROVIDE LIVE WEBCAST OF ERIC CLAPTON’S CHARITABLE GUITAR AUCTION AND CONCERT

NEW YORK, June 24, 1999 – Globix Corporation (NASDAQ: GBIX) has announced that it will be working with VH1 and Microsoft Corp. to provide an online broadcast of the Eric Clapton guitar auction, a charitable event to benefit the Crossroads Centre. Held at Christies, the auction is scheduled for today, June 24, 1999. Online viewers can catch the excitement by logging onto the VH1 web site, www.vh1.com, beginning at 1:30 pm, EST.

Mr. Clapton donated more than 100 guitars from his personal collection to raise money for the Crossroads Centre in Antigua, an international non-profit facility founded by Clapton in 1997 for the treatment of alcohol and drug dependencies. Representing one of the largest single-owner sales of guitars at auction, the Clapton event is expected to realize in excess of $750,000 dollars. To further benefit the Crossroads Centre, Mr. Clapton has organized the Clapton & Friends concert, which will premiere on VH1 on July 17 and have its highlights broadcast live on the VH1 web site on June 30. Guest performers include Sheryl Crow, Mary J. Blige and D’Angelo.

The Globix Streaming Media Group will provide a multi-faceted solution for the guitar auction and concert as well as a special pre-auction sweepstakes sponsored by VH1. For these events, Globix will provide a single-source service that encompasses on-site video production, live encoding, hosting the streams in the Company’s state-of-the-art Internet Data Center and broadcasting them over the robust Globix network. Using Microsoft’s streaming media platform, Windows Media Technologies 4.0, Globix will encode the broadcast for a range of Internet connection speeds and provide a worldwide audience with access to this monumental, charitable auction.

Globix is proud to be associated with such a distinguished artist and the cause that has touched his life so deeply,” said Dan Rayburn, Worldwide Manager of the Globix Streaming Media Group. “Now that our new network and secure, fully redundant Internet Data Centers are operational, we are able to provide clients like VH1 with a complete end-to-end streaming media solution,” Rayburn explained. “This infrastructure combined with our technical expertise allows us to deliver a quality Internet broadcast that is accessible to tens of thousands of simultaneous viewers around the world.”
