Adds Two Top Industry Pros and Acquires Expertise
in Live Netcast Production and Streaming Media Solutions
NEW YORK, NEW YORK, August 17, 1998 – Globix Corporation (Nasdaq:
GBIX) a leading provider of total Internet-based solutions for
businesses announced the addition of two accomplished live-event producers
to the organization. The two new members, Dan Rayburn, (formerly a
principal at a major live-events production company) and Chris Kelly
(formerly Director of New Media Services at Irving Plaza) add extensive
expertise and experience to the Globix media team. Over the
last four years, as pioneers in the field, they have produced some
of the largest and most complex cutting-edge online events. They also
have helped to spearhead The Macintosh New York Music Festival and
The Intel New York Music Festival. Now at Globix, they will
specialize in live event production and offer full turnkey solutions
for audio and video streaming on the Internet.
With Dan and Chris joining the team, Globix will offer all
formats of streaming media on the World Wide Web using the latest
technologies, including RealVideo and RealAudio from RealNetworks
and other solutions, such as NetShow, QuickTime, LiquidAudio, a2b
and Emblaze. Globix will provide live event production, on-demand
encoding, stream hosting, bandwidth and streaming media consulting.
This will make Globix the only total integrated turnkey streaming
solutions provider. The Globix team will leverage its extensive
technology capabilities and the expertise of Dan and Chris in the
live events field to provide corporate clients with distance learning
applications and to broadcast cutting edge music events for the entertainment
industry.

Dan Rayburn has production credits that date back to The Macintosh New York Music Festival in 1995 which, at the time was one of the first live events of its kind on the Web. After leaving Apple, in 1996, Dan was vice president for a live-events production company where he produced technically-driven streaming solutions. He has produced close to 100 live events on the web.
Christopher Kelly has been producing interactive media for the industry since 1993. He produced interactive CD-ROM authoring and Web design for clients that included J. Walter Thompson, MTV and Reuters. In 1996, Chris developed a live cybercast division at Irving Plaza, New York City¹s premiere concert venue. He produced all live concert events for Atlantic Records, Warner Brothers, Elektra, Arista, Sony, Columbia, Maverick Records and others. Chris has an extensive background as an audio engineer and specializes in encoding audio and video. He has taught at United Digital Artists (UDA) and actively participates in MOUSE (Making Opportunities for Upgrading Schools and Education), where he helps students and teachers in inner city schools get online.
