The challenge that ec3 faced was selection of a managed hosting vendor to build, deploy, and manage the platform for their isis™ application. The company concluded that an in-house approach would be prohibitively costly and would likely distract them from focusing on their core business objectives. Another concern was the skill, time, effort, and money required to maintain the highest uptime and quality standards if they chose an in-house model. ec3 chose Globix from a short-list of five of the best prospective hosting and managed services providers. Their choice was based on quality of facilities, quality of service and cost.
Globix solved ec3’s business problem with the deployment of a complex hosting architecture coupled with an array of professional services to ensure that the solution would meet, and exceed, ec3’s requirements in a cost-effective fashion.
From the start, Globix professionals assisted ec3 to scope out and define the requirements for the architecture and an optimal design was finalized. Vendor management capabilities were brought to bear on the procurement and installation of the required hardware and software platforms. Together, ec3 and Globix decided on Sun Microsystems hardware and Sybase software to make sure that the ec3 solution would operate “as-advertised.”
Currently installed and commissioned, the Globix solution is delivering. “By partnering with Globix, we have been able to substantiate ourselves as an application service provider,” commented a representative from ec3. “Globix has given us access to their multi-million pound infrastructure to support our ASP offering. With the use of Globix [PartnerPlus] managed services, we have been able to outsource day-to-day computer operations, allowing us to focus on the stuff we are really good at.”
